Sun Resorts wins the Sustainable Tourism Award at the International conference on "Digitalization and Sustainable Tourism"

Sun Resorts is proud to have won the first Sustainable Tourism Award issued for the first time by the Ministry of Tourism. It was during the international conference on "Digitalization and Sustainable Tourism" that this prestigious award was presented by the Minister of Tourism, Anil Gayan to Sun Resorts. Sun was represented by Sandrine Petit, Group Director of Marketing and Communication, Ali Abdool, Sustainability Specialist and Saleem Khadaroo, Corporate Manager, Sun Resorts Quality Safety Health and Environment.

This Sustainable Tourism Award recognizes the strategy implemented by Sun Resorts through its SUNCARE program based on three main pillars, which are environmental sustainability initiatives, the local community and an ethical approach to hospitality.  

During this conference the case study of Long Beach acclaimed by Dr. Luigi Cabrini, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council was presented to the audience. Long Beach Sun 5* hotel, has been rebuilt with an ecological approach and also rewarded by various certifications such as Earthcheck Silver and Travelife Gold. Those Certifications have also been obtained for the other hotels of the group.

Another initiative supporting Sun's sustainable development was the signing of a MOU with the University of Mauritius on May 15. The MOU demonstrates the commitment of both organizations to work together to produce high quality research that will be of direct relevance to the industry.

Sun is also been fully engaged in the local community with the Pediatric Oncology Unit at Victoria Hospital in Candos.
